Crafted in northwest Persia of Azerbijan district, this superb antique Bakshaish rug contains the best features of these prized village carpets. This exquisite antique carpet has a magical presence provided by bold geometric design that combine tribal details and classical Persian themes. Dense clouds of iconography fill the parchment-colored frame that embraces the deep oceanic field, which is enhanced by waves of abrashed color. Endless rows of tribal motifs line this dramatic intersection while complementing the neighboring eye motifs, stars and fetter symbols. Bright, warm Bakshaish red takes precedence in the heavily embellished borders.
