Antique Persian Bakshaish Rug with Medallions and Flower Motifs in Midnight Blue, rug c-0901, country of origin / type: Iran / Bakshaish, circa 1910

This spectacular antique Persian Bakshaish carpet (circa 1910) features five central medallions laid out in a cross-shaped design and surrounded by a multiplicity of vining flora and blossoms. The inner and outer guards bear a repeating pattern of clover and leaf designs while the central border holds alternating patters of serrated leaves and palmette blossoms. Colors include midnight blue, burnt orange, ivory, gray, and pink.
