Diamond sub-geometric medallion antique Malayer Persian rug with floral borders, rug h-711-26, county of origin / type: Iran / Malayer, circa 1940
This mid-20th century antique Persian Serab carpet features a tan-colored field decorated with a large onyx black, diamond-shaped center. The central diamond shape is composed of a multitude of sub-geometric shapes, in various shades of cream, light pink, and light blue. Ornate borders full of vining flowers frame the entirety of the piece. This particular carpet is woven on a wool foundation and has a soft, pliable handle, typical of the earlier Serab rugs. Additionally, the articulation of its motifs is excellent and it features beautiful color quality.
