Antique Caucasian Karaghashli Rug

The archetypal motifs in this piece are accompanied by a tower of stacked polygons with small V-shaped indentations, a Karaghashli rug hallmark. Each decorative foil is embellished with eight-armed brackets and tiny lozenge-shaped accents. Isolated rosettes, beetle-like blossoms and geometric birds dot the beautifully oxidized field while maintaining the open layout and chic tri-tone color scheme. This prototypical Karaghashli field is surrounded by tertiary S-hook borders, secondary stacked-lozenge borders and stunning leaf-and-winecup main borders that embody the essence of local designs. These ancient motifs and local adaptations have rustic sensibilities and a level of refinement ideal for modern interiors.
